Non-statutory placements make up over half of provision for students in Scotland, report reveals

Government to create register of children not in school

The government will create a register of children who are not in school following longstanding safeguarding concerns around home education. Councils would also be able to share data with specified agencies, for example, in relation to safeguarding concerns, and would also be under a duty to support home educators on request from the family.
