Government seeks new chair for Social Work England

The government is seeking a new chair for Social Work England , in the wake of Lord Patel’s resignation from the role in March. The successful candidate will hold the post for up to three years, earning £450 a day for 80 days’ work a year. The chair’s role is to run Social Work England’s governing board, holding its chief executive, Colum Conway, to account for the regulator’s performance.

‘Positive signs’ on reducing number and length of care proceedings, says family court head

There are positive signs regarding the family justice system’s drive to cut the number and length of care proceedings, its head has said. The number of public law cases – most of which are council applications for care orders – have fallen year on year and there are indications further progress is being made, said president of the family division of the High Court Sir Andrew McFarlane, in a note to colleagues issued last week.

Kamala Panday– 2020 Frontline programme fellow

Kamala Panday started the Frontline programme in the summer of 2020. After qualifying as a social worker, she went on to join a children with disabilities team, before moving to safeguarding and currently works in a Mental Health in Schools team training to be a children’s CBT therapist.
