Revised MCA code of practice ‘still under discussion’ two years after consultation on changes

Revisions to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 code of practice are still under discussion two years after proposed changes were consulted upon. That was the message from care minister Helen Whately in response to a parliamentary question from shadow justice minister Alex Cunningham earlier this month.

Child in need cases opened up to non-social work staff despite risk concerns

The Department for Education’s (DfE) revised version of Working Together to Safeguard Children has removed the previous requirement for child in need assessments and casework to be reserved for qualified social workers.
