What inspired you to write the book, Breakdown: A Clinician’s Experience in a Broken System of Emergency Psychiatry , that got published in October of 2018? . I’m in my 14 th year as a mobile emergency psychiatric social worker. When schizophrenia goes untreated, the consequences can be deadly.

To pre-empt: my thought is that whilst ignoring frames is naive, so is taking "frame" to be a master concept for the interrogation of psychiatric judgement. Psychiatry's social scientific critics, for example, typically suggest we should apprehend their object using concepts such as "suffering", "problems in living", "experience", "belief".

I want to leave off discussion of philosophical psychiatry's curious use of that preposition for another time; for now the focus shall be on her reading of Laing & Esterson (hereafter: Laing). Her diagnosis is 'paranoid schizophrenia'; she believes others can read her thoughts and are constantly discussing her. She appears deluded.
