No agency social workers are left practising in Northern Ireland’s health and social care (HSC) trusts , says the region’s Department of Health (DoH). This means that the DoH has met its target of ending locum social work in the five trusts – which are responsible for statutory social services in the region – by the end of June 2023.

He told me that his wife was backing out of the garage. The mirror on the passenger side got caught on the garage door frame. In being pulled back, the passenger side window exploded into pieces. He said his wife came in the house more scared of him, than upset about the window. He was miffed by that. He saw it as a negative reflection on himself by her and that it was undeserved.

He loved skating and playing hockey. He wanted it for his son too. By the age four the lad had his second pair of skates, a stick and pads. He was an awkward, kind of clumsy boy. His ankles spent more time on the ice than his blades. His father pursued. Sure, there were the tantrums, throw downs, running away. The lad was less than interested. Remarkably though, the boy had well-developed fine motor skills.

I was the only daughter of a single mother, a political refugee from Poland, and a Mexican father that I didn’t know. People like to think in twos. Binary. Day and night. However, what some forget is that there are different times of day. There is dusk, dawn, high noon and all the points in between. There are also different phases of the moon. All of creation is built on a spectrum, not a binary. So too of gender and sexual orientation. The myth is that there is a binary with regard to sexual orientation and gender when there is not.
