I was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1992 after I faced disciplinary action while a graduate counseling student because I had disabling symptoms of psychosis. In 2016, I started receiving disability benefits for bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder. The ECT treatments reduced some of my depression symptoms.
