An Unusual Social Work Dilemma

One day, I was asked to follow up a patient who had recently been discharged from the local psychiatric unit. Elaine was 20 years old. She had been admitted after taking an overdose. Looking at her discharge notes, I saw that she had been born with foetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
