I recently declined two requests for couple counseling. Couple counseling can be an intense setting where issues are laid bare. Interestingly, in both cases the callers were prepared to continue with couple counseling despite their disclosures of untoward behavior. I suggested individual counseling in both cases.

While you or someone else may think a particular teen needs counseling, it doesn’t mean it will be helpful. Counseling is one of those things that simply works best when attended on a voluntary basis by someone who self-identifies a need as well as a desire. Think beyond counseling. Looks good, does nothing.

He went to counseling just as she wanted. With that she would learn to calm herself, process her feelings and learn better communication skills too. Gary maintains a private practice in Georgina Ontario, providing a range of services for people in distress. He had to address his anger. It was her turn to do some work.

That means your partner must have full access to your phone, devices, and all means of communication. When trust is in place, it’s less that we ever look into the communications of the other and more the knowledge that it just isn’t an issue. Trust is an outcome of trustworthy behavior over time. How long should this last?
