The psychological community often attempts to combat the stigma suffered by the mentally ill by challenging the view that people suffering schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions are physically dangerous. 55% of the homicides by the mentally unwell were committed by people with a history of schizophrenia (and other delusional disorders).
