A report from the Children’s Commissioner for England last year found that 37% of children in care had been separated from at least one sibling in their initial placement. The three-hour session was facilitated by nine professionals, including staff from Coram’s activity days team, social workers and play specialists.

A range of organisations have signed up to support the special event.

The sub-group also found that, in many cases, the courts, social workers and guardians used supervision orders as a formal way of securing resources for the child or family, risking “unwarranted state intervention” in family life. Social workers back standalone supervision orders, despite questioning their effectiveness.
