When I shared that picture, she was somewhere in a cycle of jails, shelters, and rehabilitation facilities that dominated her adult life. I intuitively understood the connection between child abuse, drug abuse, addiction, and many other things. . Like her mother, she chose a violent man addicted to drugs as the patriarch.
