People living with serious illness in New Jersey will be able to access community-based palliative care paid for by Medicaid.

An article published by NJ Spotlight News outlines New Jersey's plan to expand coverage for palliative care under Medicaid. The bipartisan legislation reached its final vote on Thursday, December 14th, adding community-based palliative care to the benefits paid for by Medicaid in New Jersey. Per Cathy Rowe of New Jersey Advocates for Aging Well, “Too often when an older person is facing an illness, they get swept up in the health care system without being presented the option of noninvasive care. We get swept up in quantity, not quality of life."
