New Research Suggests That the Use of Palliative Care in Metastatic Breast Cancer Varies by Race/Ethnicity
According to new findings presented by Freeman et al. at the 16th American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), ASCO Postreports that there has been a consistent rise in the utilization of palliative care from 2004 to 2020. However, it appears that racial and ethnic minority patients with metastatic breast cancer may have a lower likelihood of receiving palliative care compared to non-Hispanic White patients with the disease.
Investigators emphasized the importance of further research to better understand the factors contributing to this disparity in palliative care utilization.
