In an article published in JAMA, researchers sought to determine the effect of a nurse and social worker palliative care team on the improvement of quality of life for outpatients. These patients, who were were living with COPD, heart failure, and interstitial lung disease, showed clinically meaningful improvements in their quality of life compared with their "usual care".
