New resource center provides blueprint for health care systems training nonpalliative care clinicians in core palliative care skills.

The California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) has released a resource center to help and encourage health care systems to train nonpalliative care clinicians in core palliative care skills. The resource center is the result of a three-year palliative care initiative within California public health care systems, and includes documented processes and lessons learned from this project. The goal is to help other organizations adopt or adapt these learnings, to ultimately improve the care of patients living with serious illness.

One of the suggestions within the implementation section includes investing in and providing access to high-quality clinical training through organizations like CAPC and VitalTalk. Participating organizations shared their experiences and ideas for applying skills to their practice, amongst other ‘key ingredients’.
