A Physician's Weekly article covers a recent study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management about giving caregivers the tools to confidently treat symptoms at home. The Symptom Management Plan (SMP), which was introduced in the study, offers a sick care template to caregivers to take care of their children at home. The study concluded that after caregivers utilized the SMP for six months, the majority of caregivers (73%) felt more comfortable and equipped to manage their child's symptoms at home. Additionally, the majority (76%) felt that the SMP reduced the need for ED or urgent care visits.
