An article in Healthcare Innovation covers the results of an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) survey of 462 oncology professionals in order to identify and address barriers to delivering cancer care to underserved populations. The results indicate an emphasis on the need for a return-on-investment model, a social needs screening, and collaboration with ASCO on advocacy and policy. Additional points include the important role of social workers in coordinating social services, all while noting a lack of affordable mental health services, and more.
