An article published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine examined referring clinician perspectives on using virtual tools (e.g., automated referrals) to increase patient access to upstream palliative care. The researchers found that automated referrals and the ability to offer virtual palliative care would increase patient access, but they preferred that the palliative care meetings be in-person at first.
