The Patient-Driven Payment Model: A Missed Opportunity for Patient-Centered Cancer Care
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) implemented a new payment model in 2019 for Medicare beneficiaries receiving care in skilled nursing facilities called the Patient Driven Payment Model. The authors of this paper highlight the missed opportunities in this model to drive improved care for patients with cancer, including access to palliative care, and offer considerations for the future.
