In a study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, the authors state that validating tools to measure palliative care delivery is necessary to advance the field. They found that Veteran Affairs algorithms are highly sensitive and specific in identifying specialty palliative care and differentiating between outpatient and inpatient palliative care delivery.
