The results of a qualitative study were published in Palliative Medicine Reports, which examined the perspectives of palliative care clinicians about the needs, barriers, and disparities in integrating palliative care into the community setting. Using a social determinants of health (SDOH) framework, common themes identified include a lack of patient access to resources, challenges in institutional buy-in, distrust in health care, gaps in medical education, and more.
