There is not really a straightforward way to diagnose someone with a mental illness, but there are warning signs you can look for. If someone exhibits these symptoms, it is suggested they see a medical professional to get a proper diagnosis.
Signs:
- Isolation

- Excessive use of Alcohol or Drugs
- Sleeping pattern changes
- Loss of interest in things that the person usually enjoys
- Mood changes for no reason often causing problems in relationships
- Personality changes
- Causing harm to oneself
- Seeing or hearing things that are not real
- Risk-taking behaviors that can cause harm to themselves or others
- Feeling unmotivated for long periods of time
- Changes in weight often caused by not eating, purging, or using laxatives
- Extreme difficulty in concentrating or remembering things
- Intense worry, fear or guilt
- Having a sudden hard time breathing regularly or heart racing
- Drastic changes in behavior
- Extreme sadness or irritablity
- Hard to Control Emotions
- Exaggerated or Extreme feelings of self-worth or felt to have special powers
