This Year, You Did Enough

I don’t have a particularly long post today, but it’s a message I wish would be shared more this week. This year has been hard. At times, this year felt impossible. Even as we near the end of it, parts of this year still feel impossible. But I hope you take heart in the fact that, despite how you may feel about the state of your world and what you’ve done, this year, you did enough.

Most of the time when people write year in reviews, there’s two parts. There’s the part about reflecting on what you’ve accomplished this year, but there’s almost always room saved for how we could have been better. And to be honest, I don’t think there’s any reason for to think that second part this year.

What did I accomplish this year? When I look back on it, I accomplished a hell of a lot, and there’s a lot to be proud of. But what I’m most proud of is the fact that I made it through with my wellness intact, which wasn’t an easy feat in 2021. Whether it was in my community, in my country or around the world, there were a lot of days where I looked out my window and wanted to break down from what I saw.

But I persevered, and so did you. We did enough, and we were enough. That’s the energy I’m bringing in 2022, and I’m not asking for anything more. I’m sure we all have ways we’d like to improve, but our lives are different than they used to be.

Goals change, and priorities shift. Whatever you accomplished in 2021, be proud of that. And if you feel like you didn’t accomplish much, just remember that you’re standing here, trying your best. After the end of this year, there’s not much more you can ask of a person than that. See you in 2022.

So true! All too often, it is easy to focus on the things that could have been better. Surviving is the best thing that we can do, though. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

It’s too easy to focus on on what could be better, and I’m glad we’re able to remind ourselves of just how strong we are.
