Introducing My New Project: Negative Thoughts, Positive Person!

Happy Thursday! Earlier this week, I mentioned I’m cooking up a few new projects as part of my attempt to grow into more of a mental health advocate and activist. One of the biggest reasons I want to get into a different type of space (don’t worry, MBNB isn’t going anywhere!) is that in the years I’ve been writing this blog, I’ve come to understand the power of conversation. The ability to share my story and my experience has been profoundly important to my mental health, and without that space to learn and grow, I wouldn’t be where I am today. That’s why I’m excited to announce that starting next month, I’m going to be sharing some of my broader thoughts and reflections in a new form – an email newsletter I’m calling Negative Thoughts, Positive Person.

What I’m hoping for this new project is to share more of my personal thoughts and perspective on mental health, mental wellness and everything in between. This is a space where I hope that I can be a little more of myself, while also sharing more of my thoughts and feelings about things I love. At the end of the day I love writing, and sharing my thoughts with a dedicated audience is a huge benefit of email newsletters.

Many of my posts on MBNB are based on my personal experiences with mental illness, and though I’ve been open and honest on my blog, I still find myself holding back from being ~too~ personal or honest about my own mental health. From my perspective, I want the blog to be a place where people can come to learn, or feel seen/understood if they identify with something I’ve written. While I’d like MBNB to continue to be that space, I want to share some of my more personal thoughts or musings with readers or people in the mental health community.

All this work is building toward a new long-term goal of mine – creating an online community for people to talk about mental health and wellness. And that starts with me talking about my own in much more detail. I’m aiming for one of these types of emails every month to start, and seeing how it goes. I hope you’ll join me on this journey!
