MQ Data Science meeting: Suicidality

The next #MQDataScience meeting is on Wednesday the 23rd of March and for the first time we are collaborating with DATAMIND, the HDR UK’s new hub that enables researchers to use and find the UK’s rich datasets.

This meeting will be focusing on a pressing issue of today's society: Suicidality.

MQ’s data science meetings are held virtually, and are free to attend, meaning anyone can access the ground-breaking research that will be presented.

The first session will feature presentations from researchers from Swansea University, Queens University Belfast and will be chaired by Robert Stewart from Kings College London. The session will focus on the links between suicide and self-harm as well as the impact of COVID.

This will be followed by a session about children and young people, chaired by DATAMIND’s Director Ann John and featuring presentations from researchers at Swansea University and Edinburgh Napier University.

Other presentations include research from central and North-West London NHS Foundation trust into suicidal Ideation in Dementia, and there will be a keynote speech from Christine Moutier, the Chief Medical Officer from the American Foundation for Suicide prevention.

You can see the full agenda for the meeting here. Everyone is welcome to attend, this meeting is not just for data scientists or mental health researchers. MQ data science meetings are open to all with an interest in how data science can be used to benefit people impacted by mental health conditions.
