Medical student brings course to her school, to teach first-year medical students essential skills to care for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Naaz Daneshvar, a third-year medical student at T.H. Chan School of Medicine, has brought worked to make a course on interacting with patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities a first-year medical school requirement within her program. The goal is to prepare students early on, so they can be a voice for patients and their families. She testified before the state of Massachusetts legislature about why the training, which is offered by the Arc of Massachusetts, should be a requirement for all medical students in the state.
