Councils asked to fund backpay for recent leavers following deal on £1,925 boost

Councils have been asked to fund backpay for staff who have recently left their roles, following this year’s annual pay settlement for social workers and other local authority workers. The Local Government Association said it recommended that councils paid former staff backpay covering the period from 1 April up to their last day of employment, should ex-employees approach them.

Study shows promising results for the use of psilocybin to fight treatment-resistant depression

A new study published in The New England Journal of Medicine has shown promising results for the use of psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic chemical found in some mushrooms, to treat depression. The researchers randomly assigned adults with treatment-resistant depression into groups. They gave them a single dose of psilocybin at various dosages (25mg, 10mg, or 1mg), along with psychological support.
