‘I feel out of my depth’: NQSWs report ‘unmanageable’ caseloads and lack of support

Newly qualified children’s social workers are struggling to manage their workloads leaving some questioning their future in the profession, Community Care’s annual caseloads survey has found. Almost a quarter of the 62 respondents doing their assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE) said their caseloads were “completely unmanageable” and a further almost half said theirs were “hard to manage”.

Separating from a narcissist is like no other. The gaslighting yet charm; the outright lies, yet straight face; the abuses perpetrated yet attributed to you; the misdeeds yet denials. Trying to explain to someone with no experience of this is like spitting in the wind. It comes back on you. Few others will get it and likely offer you things they think may help as if you hadn’t tried everything.

Government Covid funding for adult social care ends

Social care leaders have voiced concerns over the ending of Covid-19 funding for the sector. Funding to help care providers fund infection control and Covid testing, and for the NHS to fund free care for up to four weeks for people discharged from hospital with support needs, ended on 31 March, as did winter resources to help providers recruit and retain staff in the face of mounting pressures.

The fellow was going around town saying his wife was cheating on him. They came for counseling. Asking about alcohol consumption, the fellow in his 60’s had been consuming about 12 ounces of hard liquor daily. This current amount had been worked up to over the course of his adult life with considerable drinking throughout. His wife, a church member and otherwise quiet woman denied his accusations.

Yes, Men Get Abused. Shame Keeps It Hidden.

It isn’t often discussed, yet happens. It is kept in the shadows, kept there in shame, disbelief and toxic masculinity. It’s men affected by violence and coercive controlling behavior perpetrated by their female partners. There are next to no formal public services for such men. They languish. They too suffer depression and/or anxiety. Yes, statistically, the majority of those abused through intimate partner violence is disproportionately women, by a wide margin.
