In the past few weeks, I’ve (like many of you) been both experimenting with and being asked to comment about Chat GPT. Tomorrow I’m giving a presentation/brief workshop session – so thought I’d just share my resources for that here as well. This is an incredibly important space for us to continue exploring and thinking about.

A government asylum age assessment body that the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has urged practitioners not to take jobs with has started work. The Home Office said its National Age Assessment Board (NAAB) will start operating, initially, in the London and West Midlands, before being rolled out to the rest of the country once its full complement of 40 social workers had been recruited.

You must understand, the narcissist isn’t really out to win. They are out to annihilate you. If you give in thinking it will create peace, think again. If working with a narcissist, and you have survived with what you gave up on, they will come back for more. To manage with a narcissist, it really requires a paradigm shift, a change in one’s own thinking.

Education Resource- International Perspectives of Disability video Here is a video from social work day prepared by various student/intern at the UN NY and participated in the Global Student Conference held on April 2, 2023. The video is about the different perspectives of disability around the world. The purpose of the video was to serve as an educational tool to those unfamiliar with disability but also a way to hear the changes people with disabilities from different countries want.

If your parents have been abusive to you, you still may think you have to let them see your kids, even if concerned. So much as to whether you should or not depends on your parents’ behavior. If they continue to be abusive to you in any way, including being dismissive of your parenting requests or if they are putting you down to your kids, then if they see them, it should be supervised.

It’s not uncommon for me to hear the stories of children and teens who have stepped between their parents to keep one safe. Those kids come adults may not realize it, but those are traumatic experiences. As a parent whose child is in this situation, you may also not realize this has been traumatic for your child. The child may not be able to identify this as a traumatic experience.

The one parent puts the kids in the middle. That parent say horrible things about the other. The child comes back to you angry, hostile and full of lies. You may think seeking a court order ordering that parent to stop doing that would help, but all too aften it doesn’t. Rather than stop, that parent may use other tactics to undermine you and create distress.
